The name ‘pansy’ is derived from the French word pensée meaning “thought”, and was so named because the flower resembles a human face; in August it nods forward as if deep in thought. (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pansy).
This Victorian pansy image was quite popular on my old site, so much so that due to hard-linking, I was often forced to rename the image file URL. As always, if you like the image, please download and do not link directly to the image file.
And while we are on the subject of pansies…
The Pansy was the namesake for my late dear heart, Miss Pansy.
